When I was a child, my mother always told me that in September we wear teal. I didn’t know why, but I always did. As I got older, I learned that teal is the color of childhood cancer awareness, and that’s why we wear it in September.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s a time to raise awareness of the disease and to support families who are affected by it. According to the American Cancer Society, about 15,500 children are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States. That’s more than 41 children every day.
Childhood cancer is a devastating disease, but it’s one that can be beaten. By raising awareness and supporting research, we can help to find cures for childhood cancers and give more children a chance to grow up and live full and happy lives.
