Mom of a Heart Warrior: My Story of Love, Hope, and Healing

As a mom of a heart warrior, I know firsthand the challenges and triumphs of raising a child with a congenital heart defect. From the moment my son was born, I was thrust into a world of medical jargon and procedures that I never could have imagined. But through it all, I’ve learned that there is no greater love than the love between a mother and her child.

My son’s heart defect is called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). This means that his left ventricle, which is responsible for pumping blood to the body, is underdeveloped. As a result, he has to rely on a series of surgeries and devices to keep his heart functioning.

Raising a child with HLHS is not easy. There are long hospital stays, multiple surgeries, and countless doctor’s appointments. But it’s also a journey filled with love, laughter, and hope. My son is a fighter, and I know that he will overcome this challenge.
